IK LAB's bewitching organic architecture: a space dedicated to art and conducive to escape
Free and sinuous forms, a rebellion against rectilinear thought, a harmonious dialogue between man and the environment: this is how the philosophy of organic architecture is reflected in the architectural language of our time. Real organic habitable sculptures, the buildings which preach its principles are born from the meeting of the needs of the human being with the nature. And that’s exactly where the bewitching charm of organic architecture lies. If our article on “Cuevas des Pino” – the organic cave house located in Spain – has failed to convince you of the ingenuity of today’s architects, redo the experience with our article of the day, dedicated at a new contemporary art gallery in Tulum, Yucatan Peninsula.
IK LAB: a space devoted to art that promotes organic architecture
In Mexico, in the Yucatan peninsula, Jorge Eduardo Neira Serkel, self-taught artist and architect, and Satiago Rumney Guggenheim, great-grandson of the famous Peggy Guggenheim, a great name in the field of patronage and art collection , have just inaugurated IK LAB – an exceptional gallery resembling a real organic sculpture.
Inaugurated on April 20, 2018, the exhibition space can boast of its organic architecture that inspires and charms visitors, art lovers and architects from around the world. Unique in the world, the gallery looks like a kind of shell composed of curved green walls . Smooth cement parts and uneven floors only reinforce the warm cave and rainforest feel, both at the same time.
The gallery represents a domed structure that rises 12 meters above the ground and was built in accordance with the ancient principles of sacred geometry. IK LAB is surrounded by several circular openings at different heights. These play the role of windows and doors and illuminate the space while offering visitors corners of sky and jungle.
True invitation to an unforgettable journey, embodying the sacred link between man and nature, the gallery IK LAB is an experience that must be absolutely lived in person. Perfect for those who want to discover a new place of expression of art or simply conducive to meditation, it has something to offer each visitor.
