In addition, it is an excellent idea to prepare in advance , because you can refrigerate the dough for about 3 days without changing properties.
But in reality, the merits of this particular wrap recipe are not yet exhausted … If necessary, you can replace all animal products with their vegan / vegan substitutes without spoiling the end result. Substituting, for example, butter with olive oil or coconut oil works very well. The good substitutes for cow’s milk are almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, among others.
Finally, using gluten-free flour works just as well, as long as you use butter and real milk. Keep in mind, however, that the dough will require more work and will be a little more difficult to spread. Making this recipe wrap and gluten-free and milk-free differs too much from the original idea and we could not guarantee a final result of success. This variant is therefore rather inadvisable.
Recipe wrap – ingredients for the preparation of the cake
2 cups / 300g plain wheat flour (or whole wheat if you prefer) + ¼ cup extra for dough mixing
½ c. to c. salt
50 g butter (about 3½ tablespoons)
¾ cup / 185 ml of milk
1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (for cooking)

Preparation of the dough for flatbreads
Mix butter and milk and heat until butter melts (for example, in the microwave). The 2 cups flour in a large bowl, add salt and the mixture of butter and milk. Sprinkle the work surface with flour, place the dough and knead for a few minutes or until smooth.
Add extra flour if the dough is too sticky. Transfer the dough to the bowl, cover with cling film and let stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Sprinkle the work surface with flour and divide the dough into 4 roughly equal pieces.
Cooking and variants
Shape each into a ball and flatten with the hands and rolling pin in rounds about 0.3 cm thick. Heat over low heat to low ½ tablespoon olive oil in an anti-adhesive pan. Place a round sheet of dough in the pan and cook for about 1-1½ minutes (small bubbles should appear on its surface).
Turn over and cook on the other side until small golden brown spots form on both sides. Repeat with the other rounds and cover with a clean cloth after cooking to make the loaves even more supple. If necessary, you can freeze the cooked patties, but we recommend you to taste them right away.
Except as the basis of a wrap recipe itself, they can be eaten as naan, chapati, lavash, Lebanese bread, among others. You can also make gyros, kebabs and dürüms , lahmacuns and pids!
